Front Door Finale

It's been 5 and a half months since I put in our new front door. It's about time I finished it! A month or two ago, I worked on the trim, putting in some 'filler' pieces that were required. Today I started by putting a masonry blade on my circular saw, and using it like a grinder to remove some areas of stucco that were sticking out too far for the final trim to be installed.

Here is a close-up of the pieces I had to put in a month or two ago, to prepare the area around the door frame for the final trim -

To finish the trim, I had to put in another 'filler' piece that would create a base that would allow the final trim pieces to be flush with the stucco. Here is the door before the final 'filler' pieces have been installed -

And here it is with the final 'filler' pieces (most of the day was spent putting these pieces in place) -

To get power out to the front yard on these projects, I run a power cord through the mail slot -

I plug the cord in next to the toaster. I hope the U.S. Postal Service doesn't find out, I'm sure there's some kind of law or federal regulation against using your mail slot for this kind of thing!

I had to notch out a portion of the trim where the bricks were. I had to make this one cut by hand -

I got smart today however... I brought my DeWalt Double-bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw out to the front yard! My DeWalt is the best tool I own - thanks Jim C.! I probably only walked 1 or 2 miles compared to the 5 miles I walked last time when I did all the cutting on the back patio!

I put some small trim pieces in between the door and the side light -

Here's a close-up of one corner with the final trim in place -

And here are a couple of pics of the final result -
